Therian
What is a therian?
A therian is someone who spiritually identifies as or with a non-human animal.
<--- Theta-Delta: The most commonly used symbol for therianthropy. Created in 2003. Made of 2 Greek letters. One being theta to represent the word Therian and delta to represent change.
There are three different ways of belief.
1. Their soul is non-human.
2. They have a human soul and body, but the soul of a dead non-human is trapped in their body as a separate being.
3. They were a non-human creature in a past life.
What kind of animal souls do they believe they have?
Therian's may believe to have a spiritual connection to any non-human animal scientifically proven to exist.
What do therians wear?
Therians don't require any kind of specific clothing or way or dressing, but it is popular among them to wear something to represent your animal soul, for example a wolf or fox tail, dog collar or fake wings. Some wear their gear in public, some don't. It's really up to you.
Do therians go around killing animals?
For some reason this is often thought among people due to rumors, but no, definitely not. They do not go around killing animals for fun or just to get a tail to wear. In fact, several tails therians wear are fake, handmade out of yarn.
What is otherkin?
Otherkin are also therians, but identified as otherkin because their non-human soul is mythological, for example a dragon.
What is a Poly Therian?
A Poly Therian is someone who believes to have the soul of multiple non-human animals. For example, they would have the soul of wolf AND a fox.
Can I be a therian?
Anyone has the possibility of awakening as a therian.
How do I discover my non-human soul if I have one?
Many therians say they discover their animal through meditation! There's not guarantee it will work though. Some say it can take days, weeks, months or even years to find your non-human animal soul!
Do therians get bullied?
Yes. Therianthropy is a VERY misunderstood belief. There's endless amounts of misinformation, trolls and bullies out there who will tear at your conscience for the simple association with the community. It's something you need to be willing to explain if you are involved with it in any way because people will ask endless questions, and possibly try to turn others against you. We need to clear up the void of misunderstandings.
What are the differences and similarities between a Therian and a Furry?
A therian is someone who spiritually identifies as or with a non-human animal.
A furry is someone who is a fan of anthropomorphic characters.
They both might wear non-human gear to express themselves.

What is shifting?
Shifting is when your state of mind gets closer to that of your theriotypes. It might happen slowly over time, or change suddenly. The results vary for each person, and the state of mind might not stick long. Some therian's do not shift at all.
Physical shifting is not scientifically possible. Many young and fake therian's claim to physically shift.
Do the non-human animal souls have names?
Self proclaimed therian name's are chosen by the person with the belief, NOT by the non-human soul they believe to be connected with. Animal's can not speak like humans, so it's impossible for an animal to name itself or another like a human does.
For example, a real, educated therian would say:
"I have chosen the name Scratch."
And a fake, non educated therian would say:
"The wolf has told me his name is Scratch."
